Simming Sinfully
For better or worse, The Sims is one of my guilty pleasure games. I know that once I start it'll become an all-day and possibly all-week adventure, so I try not to indulge too often. That said, I adore my sims. I recently lost all of them in a harddrive corruption but I'm undetered. I will start again, and I'll finally make that world in The Sims 3 I've always wanted.
My history with the series is nearly as long as the series itself. The Sims 2 was new when I was playing all of The Sims 1, picking up one of the multi-expansion box sets at a time. By the time I got into The Sims 2, it was well into it's lifespan and I was pirating expansions just to keep up because I wasn't the most well-off at the time and had bigger gaming priorities (mostly console games that couldn't be easily pirated...). Then Spore happened, and I got even more wary about actually buying anything from EA and officially started boycotting them. I got pretty vindicated by the obnoxious The Sims Store for The Sims 3, but fuck if TS3 isn't the game with the most playtime from me literally ever. I didn't really like TS4 at all. Moods are really swingy, there's too many buffs, each expansion and stuff pack pushes sims to interact with them harder than the items in the last one causing sims to get obsessed with whatever the new hotness is. I've stuck with my heavily modded TS3 game and ironned out every bug that isn't basegame unfixable and I doubt I'll ever give up how good the open world feels. Thanks to Zerbu Careers I don't even have rabbithole careers at all.
